Escape of Water Claim
An escape of water from a burst pipe in an attic caused extensive damage to a domestic property in Nottingham. Initially insurers and their representatives dealt with the claim, but lack of progress and slow communication prompted the policyholder to seek assistance. A local broker and friend of the policyholder’s family recommended Thompson & Bryan and we were appointed to deal with the claim on behalf of the insured. The water caused extensive damage throughout the property, resulting in extensive mould growth throughout the house.
What We Did
Following our appointment, we immediately contacted the adjuster and advised them of the dissatisfaction and frustration being expressed by the insured in the way the claim was being progressed.
We agreed a plan of action with the adjuster for the strip out, drying and reinstatement works required and agreed approval of the alternative accommodation the insured had found to live in while the repairs were underway.
We also ensured regular interim payments were released to cover costs for items such as replacement contents, clothing and rent of the temporary premises.
When the contractor instructed by insurers failed to complete the works, we arranged for a local contractor known to us to undertake the outstanding repairs.
Finally, a complaint was raised to the insurers regarding the performance of their contractor. This was upheld and the insured received compensation in recognition of this.

The client was extremely happy with the service she had received from us. Having Thompson & Bryan acting on her behalf removed the stresses of dealing with insurers and their contractors.
