Warehouse and stock destroyed in severe fire

A leading electrical goods manufacturer’s main UK distribution warehouse was destroyed in a severe fire believed to have been caused by an exploding light fitting. The fire developed very quickly and most of the building and contents and stock inside were destroyed.

We quickly developed a loss mitigation plan with the policyholder involving temporary warehouse space and urgent stock replenishment ordering. Within weeks the business was operating again.

We worked alongside the policyholder’s finance team to evaluate, prepare and substantiate the claim for stock. We liaised with the appointed construction professional team to oversee the demolition of the building and reinstatement scheme. The business interruption loss, whilst mitigated to a large degree, still required complex analysis and computations, resulting in a full recovery of the policyholder’s loss.
