Successfully negotiating claims since 1867
Since insurance began there have always been specialists advising claimants. The assessing business, of which Thompson & Bryan forms a historically continuous part, was supplemented in the last twenty years by the emergence of chartered loss adjusters acting for policyholders, a sector we have now joined. Even more recently we have seen the larger brokers forming their own in-house claims advocacy units. These developments increasingly recognises that despite the recent changes in insurance law, policyholders need the knowledge and skills that specialist, trained, experienced advisers can give.
Such help, of course, costs money. It has been interesting to see that schemes launched back in the 20th century for before-the-event insurance to pay for policyholder advocacy when a claim happens are now proliferating. One of the largest is DAS’s Loss Assist where a policy that pays your advocate’s fees is bought in conjunction with your business insurance, and Thompson & Bryan is proud to be one of the main providers of adjusting services in the programme. The penetration of this scheme into the broking market continues and we have been of help to many businesses with large (and small) claims where our involvement has ensured smooth progress and a proper settlement.
